Our Web Solutions Development team deliver solutions using .NET, Java EE, OSS, or our in-house developed web development platform Aviarc. We need several talented developers, senior or intermediate, for all these project streams.

You will be a crucial part of a team that realises clients' ideas/needs into best of breed web solutions. This means you will not only produce beautiful code, but also get involved in workshops, estimation, design, and testing. That is, the complete development lifecycle.

You need to check all these boxes:

  • Proven development background from successful commercial software projects
  • Fluent in at least one major web application language, such as Java, .NET, Ruby on Rails or similar
  • Flawless JavaScript and XML as well as able to create HTML / CSS to W3C standards
  • Strong database design and SQL skills
  • Experience of unit and integration testing (using either of JUnit, NUnit, HtmlUnit, mock object)
  • Working experience with an agile methodology; SCRUM, FDD, XP, etc
  • Familiarity with best practices for modern software development, such as refactoring, test driven development, DRY, YAGNI, KISS
  • Self-starter, self-organised, thrives in a busy environment and committed to meet deadlines
  • Someone who understands that the devil is in the details
  • Team player rather than a super hero
  • Tertiary educaton within relevant field
  • Eligible to work in NZ

You should have a few of these:

  • Experience in a major database, such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, DB2, etc
  • Knowledge working with Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty, or similar
  • Flash/Flex and or Silverlight backend development experience
  • Modelling skills using common UML diagrams
  • Making complexity understandable - experience in communicating with clients and non technical people

To really impress on us, some of these would do the trick:

  • Knowledgable within framework, tools and technologies, such as;
    • Eclipse, Ant or Maven 2, Stripes, iText, JForum, Spring, Apache Commons, Velocity, jQuery
    • Visual Studio, TFS, WFC, WPF, LINQ, MVC
    • Hibernate, NHibernate, or other ORMs
    • CVS, Subversion, git
    • Redmine, JIRA + GreenHopper, Confluence
  • Development and/or integration of SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics
  • Familarity with enterpise CMS's such as Interwoven TeamSite
  • OSS technology such as WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, OpenCMS
  • Linux and/or Windows system administration
  • Sun and/or Microsoft, development focussed, certifications
